One of the test images for a project I'm picking up work on. I debated putting this up here but... hell, why not? These may not be final designs, but I like most of them.

And obviously need more practice drawing kids. >.o

There are only three named character here, thus far. On the far left, Ruouri, the baby in her lap, Pahri, and the blond, Nikaya, who is the project's main character.

Read Wind Spirits here

All characters and artwork belong to me.

I think I've seen a version of this before? (Or before it was in BAN?) Well, either way, loved it then too. The expressiveness and character in their designs, poses, and faces is heartwarming. I feel like I'm there with them and they're alot of fun to be around.

...And I am offended by the travel channel's differentiation of "Indigenous Nudity" vs. any other kind. Isn't a body a body? Why are the indigenous objectified, othered and infantalized to the point of their bodies not meaning the same?

Possibly before it was in the BAN. This is an older work that's been up for awhile, but they offered to put it into their gallery recently and I accepted.

A part of me really wants to assume the best and relate their putting that up as more to do with the generalized American prudery when it comes to any form nudity. In other words, they're covering their own asses against complains. Ironic as that statement is.

That being said, I've always liked the term, which easily might be because the linguistic geek in me just likes the word "indigenous." It's fun to say. I've always felt that it imparts a sort of... not "innocence," so much as "peacefulness." They're above our silly ideals of modesty, and that I'm jealous of.

Of course, you're probably right that more people take it to mean "oh those silly heathens, they don't know any better." But, from the tone of the average tribal documentary, I feel pretty confident in saying that it isn't, at least, how the researchers and film makers mean it.

Nicely done! I like how you put "subtitles"- it makes it seem as if you can actually hear them speaking their language.
Your children look just fine!

Thank you! ^_^ Hee, I think they look a little too small for the ages I was going for, but I suppose I'll always be critical of it XD <3
